We’re proud to announce that the Foundation is the official sponsor of this year’s National Police Dog Trials, taking place in West Yorkshire.
The annual competition – held over three days – is celebrating its 64th year and brings together the top police dog teams from across the UK.
A total of 21 dogs and handlers from different forces will compete, with the event culminating in the family fun day, on Saturday 16th May.
Our founder Kieran Stanbridge said: “The National Police Dogs Trials showcases the incredible skillset of the nation’s police dogs and creates a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the amazing work they do day in and day out.
“We’re so proud to be sponsoring this year’s event, which is being hosted by West Yorkshire Police, as part our charity work to support and celebrate working police dogs across the UK.
“We’ll be attending the event and can’t wait to see these phenomenal teams at work, as well as chatting to handlers from all of the forces about how we are working to improve the lives of serving police dogs as well as how we are supporting hundreds of dogs when they retire from their jobs.”
During the trials, the teams must demonstrate their tracking (using scent to locate a person), searching an area for hidden suspects, and their criminal work, obedience and agility, such as detaining a suspect.
Winners of regional trials will compete to secure the best score and be named as the coveted champions of the national trials.
