A woman is facing her biggest fear to raise funds for our Foundation.
Wendy Green, 56, from Nottingham, is terrified of flying but is taking on a skydive on 7 May to support our work.
We support Wendy’s retired police dog Drax, a German Shepherd who served Nottinghamshire Police as a general purpose and firearms support dog for three years.
She said: “Everyone who knows me will know a skydive is my worst nightmare as it’s my biggest fear; I hate flying, but I’m going to push myself to do it. I thought if I was doing it to raise money for charity then I can’t back out!”
Wendy said she’d been inspired to raise money by Drax who she described as ‘my world’. She added: “I’d always dreamed of having a police dog and that dream came true when I got Drax; he’s my best friend.
“Drax came into my life when I needed him. I had a really difficult childhood and started to get into trouble and even tried to take my life. When I wok up in hospital I knew I had been so selfish and it changed me as a person.
“Now, I want to be the best person I can be and help people – and animals – when I can. I also want to challenge myself and live life to the full.”
