HOW WE HELPED RETIRED POLICE DOG ALFIE IN RETIREMENT
RPD Alfie worked as a search and detection dog with Norfolk & Suffolk Police until he retired at the age of eight in 2020. He worked as an explosive detection dog for his whole career.
He was adopted by Kersty Brooks, who at the time was a serving police officer, just before the country went into lockdown due to Covid-19.
Kersty said: “Alfie has the most gentle and beautiful soul and loves meeting new people, especially when we go to the pub where he loves the dog biscuits they give out!

“He really enjoys retirement; he full stretches out in bed in the morning and pushes my husband out! And he insists on having his own sofa, kicking anyone off who tries to sit and share it with him.
“We have loved giving him a home and consider ourselves lucky to have him.”
A few years ago Alfie started struggling with arthritis in his front legs, which is managed with regular pain relief paid for by the Foundation.

“The Foundation has given me peace of mind around the help I can rely on for Alfie’s care, as well as a support family who I know are there for whatever the future holds for him.”
Kersty, Alfie’s owner
