RPD RPD Reni joined the Ministry of Defence Police in 2019 to work as a general purpose police dog.
Her handler, Katrina Purdie, said: “Reni absolutely loved her work and excelled at tracking.
“Some of our most memorable days were spent tracking across Dartmoor.
“On one occasion we were called to search a derelict ship; a first for both of us!
“Reni took it completely in her stride, confidently navigating the ladders and helping to locate trespassers who had decided it would be fun to explore!”
Reni worked for six years before retiring in 2025, just before her eighth birthday.
The now nine-year-old is enjoying retired life with her Katrina and her husband.
Katrina added: “She never goes anywhere without her tennis ball and is happiest splashing around in the sea near our home.”
When Reni had a health scare in early 2026 the Foundation stepped in to help pay for investigations and biopsies of a lump.
Katrina said: “Reni is a truly special dog who has adapted well to family life. She gave everything to her working career and now she deserves every moment of her well-earned retirement.”
“We’re incredibly grateful to the Thin Blue Paw who were by our side during a recent health scare. Thankfully, it turned out to be a false alarm but it could have easily been a different story.“
