RPD Oscar served with the Ministry of Defence Police in Hampshire for eight years as an explosives search and detection dog.
When he retired, he went home to live with Louise Craigie, who said: “Since Oscar joined our family he has become a real therapy dog and he’s a dream to have around.
“He really loves to have cuddles, swim or play with his ball. We consider ourselves very lucky to have him in our life.”
Louise registered Oscar with the Thin Blue Paw Foundation and we’ve supported them on several occasions, including treatment for an emergency eye operation as well as regular pain relief, hydrotherapy and physio to manage his arthritis.
Louise said: “The Foundation has supported Oscar during his retirement with their generosity, compassion and commitment to ensure he continues to get the happy, comfortable retirement that he deserves after all his dedication in the police.
“These police dogs are incredible and have spent years keeping us safe and deserve to enjoy their retirement and live a happy and healthy life.”
