FIND OUT MORE ABOUT RETIRED POLICE DOG SZOR
RPD Ször worked as a general purpose police dog with the Ministry of Defence, based in Reading.
Ször served for six years until he was eight. Stephanie Badger adopted him when he retired.
She worked as a kennel hand at the MoD so had got to know him, and they’d formed a special bond when he helped her during her cancer treatment.
She said: “Ször loved seeking people out and using his nose; he was amazing at it.
“He was social and a loving dog; a big cuddly bear.”

“During my time at the MoD I battled Stage 4 cancer and Ször knew something wasn’t right; he became my best friend. He was always by my side and wanted to keep an eye on me.
“He was loved by everyone and had a lovely retirement with me and two other dogs.
“We had lots of adventures but he particularly loved lockdown when he had the whole family around all the time. He was always getting affection from everyone and became a big brother to my son.”
The Foundation supported him with regular injections to manage the pain in his legs.
Sadly, Ször passed away ‘surrounded by his family’ in April 2022.
