FIND OUT MORE ABOUT RETIRED POLICE DOG BUZZ
RPD Buzz served as a general purpose dog with North Yorkshire Police for seven years.
He became one of the force’s longest serving police dogs and also trained as a firearms support dog before retiring in 2021.
As a puppy, Buzz lived with Andy Nunn from eight weeks old before joining the training programme and licensing as a police dog.
Andy said: “Buzz was renowned for his outstanding tracking work, not only finding fleeing offenders but also locating missing and vulnerable people.

“He was agile enough to clear 6ft fences from a standing start and quick enough to be where he was needed.
“In retirement, Buzz lived out his days with love, roast chicken and tennis balls.”
Vets found a growth in his neck as a result of an infection in his mouth and he began struggling to walk.
The Foundation paid for biopsies and treatment but, sadly, Buzz passed away a short while later.
Paying tribute to him, North Yorkshire Police said: “Buzz was courageous, capable and kind – a true legend of North Yorkshire Police.”
