FIND OUT MORE ABOUT RETIRED POLICE DOG CARLY
RPD Carly worked as a Ministry of Defence Police dog, based in North Yorkshire, for eight years.
Her job was to search vehicles entering the site and she was popular with the whole team.
Charlie Davison – who adopted her in April 2022 when she retired – said: “She was a good working dog who performed to a high standard and was very happy in her job.”
The Labrador settled into retired life quickly, and enjoyed swimming and playing with her tennis ball.
Charlie added: “Carly was super fit when she arrived here and loved to run.”

“Carly would regularly frighten me to death when she’d launch herself off embankments into the river!” Charlie said. “She absolutely loved swimming in the river.”
Tragically, just four months into her retirement, Charlie noticed some changes to Carly and took her to the vets who found she was suffering from terminal cancer.
“Vets said it was untreatable so we made the difficult decision not to wake her up from the anaesthetic from surgery,” Charlie said.
“We’re extremely grateful to the Thin Blue Paw for helping us financially with the bills and for the genuine care and concern they showed at such a difficult time.”
Carly’s family continued to support the Foundation after their loss.
