FIND OUT MORE ABOUT HOW WE HELPED RETIRED POLICE DOG CASEY
RPD Casey worked as a general purpose police dog with Derbyshire Constabulary for six years, retiring in early 2026.
The now seven-year-old German Shepherd was forced to retire early due to problems with the discs in her spine.
Her handler Darren Drew, who has since adopted her, said: “Casey was a wonderful police dog. She has a brilliant nose and was an excellent tracker. I was lucky to have such a dog.”

Darren added: “After being retired due to her disc problems in her back I signed her up to the Foundation because I know they’ll look after her in her retiring years, if needed.
“She now spends her days living the dream indoors and playing with my drugs dog. However, I will soon retire and then she can spend all her time with dad which she’ll be happy about.
“I think people forget the dogs put their life on the line to protect us, they deserve to live a happy and healthy retirement.”

“The Thin Blue Paw is important as sometimes owners are left with hefty vet bills as retired dogs are difficult to insure but they deserve to live out their retired life happy and healthy.“
