FIND OUT MORE ABOUT RETIRED POLICE DOG CHAOS
RPD Chaos was forced to retire early after being seriously injured while on duty.
The Belgian Malinois licensed in December 2020 and served for four years with West Midlands Police before the incident that ended his career.
His handler, Liam, who has since adopted him, said: “Chaos was a natural police dog, taking straight to searching for offenders involved in serious crime and dealing with violent criminals.
“Chaos protected me and all his policing colleagues bravely and without hesitation on an almost daily basis.
“Chaos has helped arrest burglars, car thieves, and people carrying weapons amongst numerous others, ensuring they did not get away and could face justice.”

Just before Christmas in 2024, Chaos was on duty in Birmingham when there was an incident in which a police firearm was discharged and he was injured. He needed emergency surgery to repair significant damage to his leg but, sadly, it marked the end of his career.
The six-year-old was medically retired and is now settling into his new life at home with Liam and his partner, Charlotte. They registered him with the Foundation for support.
Liam said: “Due to the severity of his injury he may need ongoing treatment and won’t get financial support from the police. The Thin Blue Paw was recommended to us by other handlers as a charity that is always there to help.”
The Foundation supports RPD Chaos with regular hydrotherapy.

“The Foundation is important because it ensures dogs who have given so much of their lives to keeping the public safe and protecting their handlers have the best chance of a retirement and the life they deserve.“
