FIND OUT MORE ABOUT RETIRED POLICE DOG CHIP
RPD Chip was rescued by the RSPCA in 2019 and donated to Surrey Police at just one-year-old, where he joined the dog school.
Chip was transferred to Bedfordshire Police to begin his training as an explosives search and detection dog.
He served alongside Andy Parker, based at Luton Airport, for his whole career.
Neville Mooney, a Bedfordshire Police puppy walker who also knows Chip’s former handler, Andy, adopted him when he retired in February 2026.

He said: “Over seven years, he undertook several high-profile searches, including the opening of the DART monorail link by the King.
“He became a familiar and favourite face around the airport due to his playful and cheeky nature.
“Chip is now enjoying his retirement where he particularly enjoys playing with his tennis ball in muddy puddles.
“I learned about the Foundation through my involvement with Bedfordshire Police, as a puppy walker, and looking after the dogs when they retire is something I feel is very important.”

“Given the challenges of police funding and the cost of living I worry that, without the Foundation, it might become difficult to give the dogs a happy and healthy retirement.“
Neville, Chip’s owner
