FIND OUT MORE ABOUT RETIRED POLICE DOG LIZI
RPD Lizi served as a general purpose dog with the Ministry of Defence Police for five years, based in Berkshire.
She was initially kennelled but really struggled with stress in the kennel environment so was partnered with Edward Bowes who could keep her with him at home.
The latter part of her career was based in Wiltshire before she retired at seven to live with Edward and his adopted bichon frise sisters, Ela and Mollie.
Edward said: “Lizi was a very good tracker and was good at obedience training.

“Lizi has embraced her retirement and her home life with Ela and Mollie.
“She loves to play tug and all three dogs enjoy walks along the canal.
“I had initially registered my previous German Shepherd with the Thin Blue Paw as she had hip dysplasia and the Foundation funded a couple of operations and a monthly dose of Librella.”
Since Lizi has been registered, the Foundation has funded a tooth extraction and, in November 2025, paid £780 to remove a mammary mass.

“Many retired police dogs develop ailments that can be costly. Anybody who takes on a retired police dog does so to give love and security but doesn’t necessarily have the funds to cover potentially expensive vet fees.”
Edward Bowes, Lizi’s owner
