HOW WE’VE HELPED RETIRED POLICE DOG DARA IN RETIREMENT

RPD Dara joined the Royal Air Force Police, based at Marham in Norfolk, in 2015, where she remained for her entire career.

She worked as a protection dog carrying out patrols and protecting critical assets at the air base, including planes like the Tornado and F35 Lightening.

For the final two years of her career, she was handled by Chloe White.

The pair won the RAF Marham MWD Trials in 2020, a competition to crown the best protection dog, as well as the Best Arena Award.

They were also part of the RAF Dog Demonstration Team, performing at events such as Crufts.

Dara retired in 2020 after her medical issues started to affect her, and Chloe adopted her. She needed regular injections to help manage her arthritis, which the Foundation paid for.

Chloe said: “The monthly courses of Librela helped her drastically manage the pain. Due to the cost of the treatment I’d have struggled to fund it without the Foundation’s support.”

Sadly, Dara passed away at the end of 2024 shortly after enjoying her first holiday to Wales, which she enjoyed.
