HOW WE HELPED RETIRED POLICE DOG DIGBY IN RETIREMENT
RPD Digby was gifted to Police Scotland from an elderly couple in Bournemouth, Dorset, who weren’t able to properly care for him.
In 2017, at the age of two, he licensed as a cash, drugs and firearms detection dog.
He was partnered with dog handler Lisa Mitchell before retiring in 2022. Lisa adopted him to live with her.
She said: “Digby is absolutely loving retired life, mostly sleeping on the couch!

“He is a huge character and is definitely strong-willed but would also put a smile on anyone’s face!
“During his working life, his antics included playing hide and seek under vans!”
The Foundation is supporting Digby with monthly injections to help manage his arthritis.
Lisa added: “It’s nice to know the Foundation is there for financial support as Digby isn’t insured and knowing the charity is there definitely helps.”

“The Thin Blue Paw Foundation is crucial to retired police dogs as without their support some owners may not be able to pay vet bills.”
Lisa, Digby’s owner
