FIND OUT MORE ABOUT RETIRED POLICE DOG EVA
RPD Eva – or Everest as she was originally named – was bred by West Midlands Police as part of its ‘Paw Patrol’ litter.
The German Shepherd joined Surrey Police in 2019 when she was just one and was partnered with Claire Bird when her previous dog, RPD Fiji, retired.
Claire said: “Eva was an outstanding police dog and worked as a general purpose dog and later passed her training as a firearms support dog.
“She completed in one of our in-house police competitions and came second for obedience, agility and bite work. During her career she had many successful searches, tracks and deployments.

“She received an award in 2021 for tracking a vulnerable missing person who had threatened to harm themself. She located them just in time and saved their life.”
Claire adopted Eva when she retired.
“Eva has settled in well with the family and is happy on the sofa although she still doesn’t like it when I go off to work with my new working dog,” Claire added.
“She is still active and loves to run and play with my other dogs. She’ll be joining us for camping holidays this year which will be good fun.”

“With three retired police dogs at home we’re never sure when the next vet bill is coming so the Thin Blue Paw gives us peace of mind. We’d be lost without them.”
