MEET RETIRED POLICE DOG IGGY
What are the highlights from Iggy’s career?
“Iggy has been in the newspaper a few times, mainly for his heroics in foiling a break in at a school in Fife, where, as the newspaper article said, “Iggy left his ‘mark’ by dishing out ‘ruff’ justice to the thieves”.”
What does retirement look like for Iggy?
“Iggy still enjoys walks between five to six hours every day, and that’s besides his daily trip to the ‘unleash the dogs’ dog fields, where he still makes easy work of all the obstacles!”
What’s your favourite memory with Iggy since his retirement?
“His most recent birthday on 1 December 2024, when he turned 12. Although every single day of him in our life is a bonus.”
Tell us a funny story about Iggy…
“In spite of us building a luxurious kennel for Iggy, he spent just one night in it after discovering the warmth and joy of a two-seater sofa and pillows, to which he’s laid claim to!”

RPD Iggy worked as a general purpose dog with Police Scotland before retiring at the age of six, in 2018.
The Dutch Herder was adopted by Dave Singh and his family where he’s lived ever since and enjoys long walks and tackling the obstacles in the off leash paddocks.
Dave said: “In general, Iggy’s super healthy for his age. He did need vet treatment for dog bites during his service, but nothing more serious than that.
“But it’s a great assurance to be registered with the Thin Blue Paw Foundation and to know you’ll have his back if he ever needed support.”

“It’s a real good assurance and comfort to know that the Thin Blue Paw will have Iggy’s back if he ever needed it.“
Dave, Iggy’s owner
