RPD Kiwi

RPD Kiwi spent seven years working as a general purpose and firearms support dog with Surrey Police until she retired in January 2020 and was adopted by veterinary nurse Jody Barry, from West Sussex.

Jody said: “At the time, the practice I work at was caring for Surrey Police dogs and we had Kiwi in for an examination before her retirement. The officers mentioned that she was looking for a good home and the rest, as they say, is history! We stayed in touch with her previous handler who would come to visit her regularly.”

Kiwi settled well into retired life and enjoyed swimming as well as running and playing with Jody’s other dogs. But soon she started struggling with some health problems. 

Jody added: “Kiwi started to struggle with itchy skin and dermal cysts so the vets prescribed medicated shampoos and medication to make her more comfortable, costing hundreds of pounds.”

Our Foundation helped with these costs until Kiwi sadly died in 2024.
