FIND OUT MORE ABOUT RETIRED POLICE DOG SOLO
RPD Solo worked as a general purpose police dog with Surrey Police.
He retired in 2025 and spent some time in kennels while the force searched for a new home for him.
Jack Wild, from north London, lost his previous German Shepherd and had always wanted to adopt his next dog.
He felt he could offer a good home to a retired police dog.
He submitted an application to Surrey Police and was later contacted about Solo.

Jack said: “I wanted to take on a dog who could hopefully live out their retirement happy, playful and in a loving home.”
Solo spent three weeks with Jack and he decided to adopt him.
He added: “Solo is a handful but he’s great; he’s a big softy!
“It’s great to see him enjoying some home comforts.
“He loves the outdoors and we enjoy spending time outside together.”

“I’ve been following the Thin Blue Paw Foundation for a long time so it only made sense, when I was ready to get Solo, that I registered him with the charity.”
