FIND OUT MORE ABOUT RETIRED POLICE TILLY

RPD Tilly joined Derbyshire Constabulary in 2011 as a cash, drugs and firearms search and detection dog.
She joined the force from the Dogs Trust and almost didn’t make the grade but, after her handler had a quick word, she managed to get through.
She partnered with handler Andrew Bailey and they became a formidable duo spending almost a decade fighting crime together.
He said: “During her nine-year career Tilly located kilos and kilos of drugs as well as tens of thousands of pounds of cash, firearms and ammunition.”
Andrew added: “Tilly, Riley (my other dog) and myself won the Crimefighting Award from the Thin Blue Paw Foundation and, in 2022, we all retired together.”
Tilly stayed with Andrew (while Riley was adopted by friends) and she settled quickly into retired life.
Andrew said: “We went on many adventures around the UK and enjoyed spending sunny days lounging in the garden and spending time with Olive, our cat.”
In March 2026, Tilly passed away peacefully with Andrew by her side following a short battle with cancer.
