HOW WE HELPED RETIRED POLICE DOG TITAN IN RETIREMENT
RPD Titan started his career with Cleveland & Durham Police as a general purpose dog before he transferred to Bedfordshire Police.
During his career he starred in Police Interceptors and won a reputation for his excellent tracking skills and arrest record.
He retired in 2021 at the age of six after losing his drive.
Sue and the Sims family, from Cambridgeshire, applied to adopt him on his retirement after their son, who is a police officer, told them about him.
Sue said: “Titan was happy and healthy but decided it was time to retire. The early days were challenging for everyone but now it’s like he’s always been a part of the family.

“Now he is a wonderful companion. He loves to run around ball fields and is hardly ever without a toy. He loves a cuddle and it’s a privilege to give him a home for his retirement.
“He’s also been on several holidays in north Norfolk where he enjoys the peaceful and quiet footpaths and the occasional paddle in the sea.”
Sadly, Titan was attacked by another dog while out on a walk in September 2024 and suffered serious injuries.
Sue added: “Titan almost died and needed significant veterinary treatment which came at a huge cost. We’re so relieved that he pulled through but when he fell ill again the help from the Thin Blue Paw was a huge help.”
We paid for treatment and biopsies for an anal gland infection.

“We’re eternally grateful to the Thin Blue Paw for the financial they’ve given.”
