FIND OUT MORE ABOUT RETIRED POLICE DOG BILLIE
RPD Billie worked as a general purpose dog with Kent Police and retired, aged five, when her handler changed roles.
The six-year-old went to live with her handler, Lynn Wilczek, in Kent. She said: “Billie successfully caught numerous suspects following foot/paw chases and enjoyed playing hide and seek with them! She always won!
“She loved to work and still listens for those sirens now.
“She loves the sound of her own voice and is constantly chatting. She didn’t always listen when she was asked to stop barking.”

Lynn added: “She still barks at anything, especially other animals and anything with wheels. She has a particular dislike for badgers and shiny floors.
“She loves walks in the woods and a ball which she often refuses to give back!”
Thankfully, she’s in good health but Lynn registered Billie – and her other RPD Izzy – with the Foundation for peace of mind.
She added: “We’re aware of how the Foundation has helped other retired dogs that we know and, having lost a retired dog ourselves, we know how incredibly special they are. Unfortunately insurance companies don’t agree and neither do the police forces, but they deserve to have protection and support.”

“We’ve registered Billie so we have some support should the worst happen and, if it doesn’t, then we are helping other retired dogs who deserve it.“
