FIND OUT MORE ABOUT RETIRED POLICE DOG IZZY
RPD Izzy worked as a cash, drugs and firearms detection dog with Kent Police.
Her owner, Lynn Wilczek, who adopted her when she retired, said: “Izzy is a very sensitive soul. She is timid and shy but wow, that nose! She can sniff out almost anything.
“If there’s something there, she’d find it. She had lots of fabulous finds.”
Unfortunately, eight-year-old Izzy had to retire early due to her fear of the car.
Lynn added: “Izzy absolutely hated the police car. Her handler tried everything but anxiety got worse. A tough decision was made which was a shame because she really loved to work.”

Lynn added: “Thankfully she took to retirement like a duck to water, she loves being a home dog and lounging on her back on the sofa.
“She gets on with everyone and wants to be as close as she can get to you. She is very chilled and enjoys her sofa time and cuddles. She’s also always on the hunt for food and loves going for walks in the woods.”
Thankfully, she’s in good health but Lynn registered Izzy – and her other RPD Billie – with the Foundation for peace of mind.
She added: “We’re aware of how the Foundation has helped other retired dogs that we know and, having lost a retired dog ourselves, we know how incredibly special they are. Unfortunately insurance companies don’t agree and neither do the police forces, but they deserve to have protection and support.”

“We’ve registered Izzy so we have some support should the worst happen and, if it doesn’t, then we are helping other retired dogs who deserve it.“
