FIND OUT MORE ABOUT RETIRED POLICE DOG TOM
RPD Tom came over to England from a Dutch breeder at 11-months-old.
He joined Humberside Police as a general purpose police dog in 2019 and was partnered with PC Neil Walker.
Neil recalled: “He was a very intimidating dog with an awesome presence and many criminals gave themselves up rather than chance their arm at either running away or facing up to him.
“Tom even had five minutes of fame when he appeared on Channel 5’s Motorway Cops, chasing down and detaining a car thief.”

“At home, Tom is very laid back and enjoys walks in the company of his best mate and former colleague, RPD Pearl.”
Tom, Pearl and Neil all retired at the same time, to live out their retirements together. Neil added: “Tom has taken well to retirement and is fit and healthy.
“I was keen to register him with the Thin Blue Paw after seeing how much the charity had helped my colleague and his RPD Neo, who I trained with.
“The Foundation has worked hard to get more recognition for police dogs and promote the importance of their welfare in retirement.”

“Without the Foundation, some of the dogs who serve us with such loyalty may not get the retirement they richly deserve.“
